Dennis Nelson - Chair
Dennis is a fifth generation resident of Columbia County, Oregon. He has a lifelong interest in forestry and agriculture. Both his grandfathers lived on small farms and worked in the woods as loggers. This near genetic interest in the woods led him to learn the timber fallers' trade, which he practiced professionally for about seven years. He is a graduate of the OSU Master Woodland Managers program, and is active in several other local conservation groups including the Izaak Walton League, the Nehalem Watershed Recovery Team. He is also serves on the Columbia County Planning Commission.

Bill Langmaid - Secretary
Originally from New England, Bill first came to Oregon in the mid-1980's for the summer. After receiving a BS in Forestry, he returned to this state to live and work. He has lived in this area for ten years and has worked for the watershed council since 2001 as a Watershed Planner.

Jim Buxton - Treasurer
Jim has been a resident and landowner in the Nehalem watershed since 1965. He was a founding member of the Upper Nehalem Watershed Council since its formation in 1996. He has been secretary since 1996, and treasurer of the newly formed 501(c)3 since its creation in 2002.

Steve Butsko
Steve holds a BS in Forestry from Humboldt State University. He worked as a Forester in California, Alaska, Washington and in Oregon for 30 years. But his interest in protecting natural resources stretches back 35 years. Steve has been a land owner in the watershed for 14 years.

Dale Webb
A pulp and paper worker for 15 years; and a logger for 13 years before that, Dale brings the council first hand knowledge of local forestry practices and realities. Dale has always had a concern for maintaining the natural habitat. He served as the president of the Izaak Walton League and was appointed to the Salmon Trout Advisory Board by Governors Roberts and Kitzhauber, serving there for 8 years. He has been on the Board of Directors of the North Coast Game Association (7 years).
