Maggie Peyton

UNWC Coordinator

Lauren Jacobsen

Neal Stevens

A quorum was not present.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read.

The main purpose of the meeting was to inform the landowners in the East fork of the Nehalem sub-basin of the activities taking place due to the newly funded East Fork Assessment project. Even though they had been notified, no landowners or residents from that area attended the meeting. The landowners and residents would be contacted individually in the future by the UNWC Project Manager, Bill Langmaid to answer their questions and to gain permission to enter their land.

Woody Buxton and Neal Stevens, undergraduate students from Lewis & Clark College asked many questions about the Watershed Council, its mission, structure and projects, which were answered by the Coordinator, Maggie Peyton and those council members present.

Dennis Nelson announced that he had recently kayaked a portion of the Nehalem and did not see any Japanese Knotweed between Timber and Ralph Bergerson's place. He reported that he did see lots of Coho fry and smolts.

Bill Langmaid announced that the BLM gave the go-ahead on the East Fork Assessment project. He presented his material as if there were landowners from that region in the audience. Among other things, he showed the extent and ownership of the sub-basin. He discussed and showed slides of temperature data, regulatory issues, clean water act, flooding, stream confinement, barriers to fish passage and other characteristics.

The meeting was adjourned @ 9:12 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jim Buxton, Secretary
