Meeting Notice The Upper Nehalem Watershed Council will be holding a meeting on March 24th at the Mist-Birkenfeld Fire Hall at 7pm. Discussion will focus on invasive plants, tree planting activities, and ongoing research in the Upper Nehalem watershed. Area residents are encouraged to attend and offer their assistance in providing focus and direction to council activities in 2005. The Watershed Council serves the community by assisting landowners with conservation practices on their land that improve the quality and quantity of aquatic habitat. Over the years the council has assisted over seventy landowners with tree planting, exotic weed eradication, culvert replacements, and livestock exclusion fences. The Watershed Council also serves the scientific community by collecting physical data on the stream network and passing it along to interested groups. It has been recognized at both the state and national level for its efforts in promoting watershed health. Any landowners interested in increasing the value of their property by applying conservation practices are encouraged to attend a meeting and give voice to any need of assistance. Those unable to attend can email info@nehalem.org or call Maggie Peyton at (503) 429-2401. Additional information is available at www.nehalem.org. |
