The Upper Nehalem Watershed Council, established under The Governor's Coastal Salmon Restoration Initiative and House Bill 3441, is a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to the protection, preservation, enhancement and restoration of the Nehalem Watershed. We formed this council to share information, reduce duplication of activities, help address watershed management issues in t he Upper Nehalem Watershed and provide a framework for coordination and cooperation among key interests.

Our role is to establish and support the implementation of the Watershed Action Plan through a consensus building process. Our membership is broadly representative of those individual and stakeholder groups having an interest in the health of the watershed. Stakelholder Groups include but are not limited to the following list:

Mission
To Foster better stewardship and understanding of the Upper Nehalem Watershed resources, deal with issues in advance of resource degradation, and ensure sustainable watershed health, function and use.

A balanced ecosystem that supports a healthy watershed, provides for an economic base, and viable communities.
